Car Insurance We cover you for the damages you have caused to the third parties (MTPL). This contract covers for the material losses and / or death or bodily injuries, inclusive the moral damages suffered in the that accident of loss-of-use, to injured party (TP) from an accident caused by the driver of the insured vehicle.

Bodily injury or death

Covers compensation for physical harm, disability, or fatalities caused to third parties in a vehicle accident, including related moral damages.

Material damage

Provides coverage for property damage caused to third parties, including repair costs, total loss, unregistration, and emergency expenses.

Direct Settlement

Offers the insured the option to be compensated by their own insurer for certain accidents, provided specific conditions are met (e.g., both vehicles registered in Romania, no bodily injuries).

RCA insurance can be purchased by an individual or legal entity, for a period between 1 and 12 months and is mandatory for all vehicles registered in Romania, whether in use or not.

MTPL Insurance Policy information

MTPL is a mandatory insurance for all vehicles registered in Romania, whether in use or not. Available for terms from 1 to 12 months, it offers financial protection to the driver and compensation to third parties for injuries, damages, or losses caused by the insured vehicle. Without RCA, an at-fault driver is liable to cover all damages out-of-pocket, which can be costly.

RCA calculator

HD Insurance offers RCA insurance through brokers and online platforms in Romania. For quotes, contact their partners. Prices are based on ASF guidelines, factoring in vehicle age, specifications, contract terms, and bonus-malus ratings for individuals and businesses.

RCA cancellation

Need to cancel your RCA policy? Notify HD Insurance as per Law 132/2017. For cancellations due to vehicle sale, export, or theft, provide proof (e.g., sales document, certificate of theft), policy details, and bank info. Email documents to support@hellasdirect.ro. Refunds go directly to the policyholder’s bank account.

High risk insurance policies

For high-risk drivers, BAAR policies (effective 10.02.2023) follow ASF guidelines. Submit your BAAR allocation data to riscridicat@hellasdirect.gr or highrisk@alphaprotect.ro within 10 days. Policies last 12 months with full premium payment. Compensation limits: €1,220,000 (property damage) and €6,070,000 (injuries/death).

RCA Damages

RCA (Green Card) insurance covers third-party injuries and damages in accidents. To file a claim, report immediately with all relevant documents. In Romania, call 0219705 (Mon-Fri, 9 AM–5 PM). For fatalities, email vatamari@helladirect.ro. For incidents abroad, email greencard@helladirect.ro.

What is MTPL (Motor Liability Insurance Policy) policy?

A Motor Liability Insurance (known as RCA) is mandatory insurance for all owners of vehicles registered in Romania. This covers compensation caused to third parties following a road accident caused by the fault of the insured. RCA insurance covers the costs of damage to the motor vehicle of the driver who is not at fault.

What is Direct settlement clause

Direct settlement is, by law, an optional damage management service to the insurer where the injured person has concluded the MTPL policy. The service is obligatorily offered by the insurer at the conclusion or renewal of the policy. The purchase of this clause is optional for the insured.

The direct settlement allows that, in case of a vehicle accident, the damaged person to receive the compensation from the insurer at which he concluded the RCA policy.

Under What conditions is Direct Settlement clause available?

The direct settlement clause is available if the following conditions are cumulatively met (according to Art. 26 alin. 1 from Law 132/2017):

The accidents occur on the Romania territory
The vehicles involved in an accident are registered in Romania
The prejudices are made exclusively to the vehicles
The both vehicles involved in car accident have available MTPL insurance on the event date
The injuries exclude personal injury.
